Ngā Kaitiaki Taiao o Wai Ora River Care

We are a family owned and operated Māori business. All of our Kaitiaki are from within the King Country area which includes Piopio, Te Kūiti and Ōtorohanga.

Our team of Kaitiaki Taiao (Caretakers of the land) take on roles that involve working within the nursery, site preparation, planting trees on site, maintenance after planting and the administration team.

Right now, we have the ability to grow and nurture over 180,000 native plants in our nursery. So far, we have planted over 800,000 native trees and grasses within Te Nehenehenui. Over 60kms of fencing has been erected and we’ve planted along those fence lines too, with more to come!

Planting along the waterways, wetlands and landscapes aren’t all we do. Not only are our rākau eco-sourced, therefore conditioned for the environment in Te Nehenehenui, but we also provide maintenance to give them the best start we can.
